From ballroom to bingo to bible!

  • News

Built around 1911, Vaughan Hall (its original name) stands on Victoria Road. It was built as the Picture Palace, spent time as the Crystal Ballroom and more recently was Crystal Bingo. The building is now part of Christ Church Deeside (who meet in Deeside Hall further up Victoria Road).

As a church, we have plans to develop Vaughan Hall for serving the community with the good news of Jesus Christ. We weren’t going to use the building until this was completed, but on Sunday 26th July, we held our first church service in Vaughan Hall. We did this because the 2 metre social distancing rule meant we could only fit 30 or so people in Deeside Hall and we needed more space to fit everybody in. We have been livestreaming our services on Facebook for the last 4 months so we decided to put a big screen up in Vaughan Hall so people could gather there for the service (that was livestreamed from just up the road in Deeside Hall).

It was good to be able to meet together in person even with our masks on! We are thankful to God for providing us with this new ‘old’ building. You are welcome to join us at 10:30am on a Sunday morning.

Some time in the future, we plan to have a Vaughan Hall ‘open day’. Maybe you have memories of time spent in Vaughan Hall. We would be interested to hear stories and see any photos you might have, so please get in touch using the contact details below or pop into Bethany Books (5 Chester Road West) to tell us.
